Certain sections within cemeteries are set up for plots that can have anywhere from six to eight burials. A family monument is made up of two pieces. There is the horizontal piece that is called the "base" and the vertical piece that is called the "die". A family memorial that is for six burials has a standard size "die" of 56" in length, 32" in height and 10" in thickness. The standard size of the "base" is 66" in length, 20" in thickness and 10" in height. A family memorial that is for eight burials has a standard size "die" of 60" in length, 38" in height and 10" in thickness. The standard size of the "base" is 72" in length, 20" in thickness and 10" in height.
Benches are a replacement for the main monument on the plot. Benches can be made to your particular specifications. You should verify with your cemetery as to whether they will permit a bench memorial.
There are different color granites that you may choose from. Choosing a color other than gray, which is the standard, is a matter of preference.
